Neeru Bhargava ( Studio Mrittika 396, Noida ) : As an artist with a background in High Fashion apparel design, different colours, patterns, and textures have always fascinated me.
Nature and my experience with textiles are my biggest inspirations for both design and decoration of pottery. My primary focus has been on wheel-thrown forms, because I enjoy the inherent fluidity that it brings with it. The shape of the pot evolves independently in a unique magical way as I work on it, which fascinates me.
There is a deep sense of satisfaction in creating art on the potter’s wheel, a sense of continuity and rootedness that touches a chord within. I create a certain amount of functional work that helps me in maintaining and honing my skills.
My primary firing method is high temperature gas firing in both oxidation and reduction atmospheres. I enjoy experimenting with new ideas and techniques. In the last few years, I have been using the Raku method of firing as well, which includes horse hair, glazed raku, ferric chloride in aluminium foil sagger. Another favourite firing technique I use is downdraft barrel-kiln smoke firing.
Namita Khanna ( Nama Studio, Gurugram) : With a background in Literature, Fashion & Photography, Namita began her journey in Ceramics in 2006 and there has been no looking back.
She finds clay a versatile and therapeutic medium to express and create and is currently involved in making one of a kind tableware that adds versatility and warmth to your home.
Shantanu Prakash (Earthern Souls, Gurgaon) : Shantanu is a Gurgaon based ceramist who has been working in clay since 2008.
